Cardboard Boat Project (Physics HP)
I have done a lot of different group projects over the years i have spent at ACLC. This one was defiantly a project i could get into because i sail a lot and i love boats. So right from the start i was excited to hear that the Physics class would be making its annual cardboard boats.
The boat project was the biggest project we had to to that year for Physics. We were assembled into groups of four learners and our task was to create a cardboard boat comprised of only cardboard, duct tape, and paint. The boat also had to be able to fit two people and it had to be able to carry them safely across the Encinal High Swimming pool. This made the project very challenging because building a water proof boat out of cardboard is no easy task.
Luckily, i had three awesome group members and we planned out our time very well. This helped to finish the project on time and make it the best it could be. Once we found out our design, the rest was easy and our boat came together fairly quickly. My knowledge of boats came in handy during this project and i felt that what seemed to be a difficult project turned out to be a really fun one.
I learned a lot about group work while doing this project. I have been in groups were I get stuck with completing the entire project myself, or with just one other person. It is very important that everyone in the group does their role and in this boat project everyone did. That is why i think our boat ended up being so successful and also why we got first place in the ACLC Cardboard Boat Regatta.
